Church communicators bestow awards

LAS VEGAS (UMNS) - The annual United Methodist Association of Communicators’ awards competition covered a wide range of work.

Awards were bestowed in 17 categories during the association’s annual banquet Oct. 15. Recognition included certificates of merit, Best of Division honors and Awards of Excellence.

Award of Excellence winners were:

Newspapers: UM Connection, Erik Alsgaard, Melissa Lauber, John Coleman, Linda Worthington and Carol Hammer.

Newsletters: Monday Morning in North Georgia, Ed Tomlinson and Mark. E. Nugent, North Georgia Annual (regional) Conference.

Magazines: Zion’s Herald, Stephen L. Swecker.

Brochures and Promotional Materials: Cindy Feldman, North Central Jurisdictional Conference.

Special Publications: A Leader with Vision, Tim McDaniel, Ed Tomlinson, David Giles and Rob Wheless, North Georgia Conference.

Video/Films Costing More Than $10,000: "Stir It Up!" John W. Coleman, Baltimore-Washington Conference.

Video/Films Costing Less Than $10,000: "Discipleship," Kimberly Pace and Carolyn Dandridge, United Methodist Board of Discipleship.

Television/Cable: "The Power of Pumpkins," Ginny Underwood and Kathy Gilbert, United Methodist News Service at United Methodist Communications.

Radio: No award given.
