NOTE: This report is a sidebar to UMNS story #194. This list represents the candidates who have been reported to UMNS. Other names will be added as they become available.

A UMNS Report

Following is a list of United Methodists endorsed to serve as bishops of the church. Delegates will elect bishops during July 14-17 meetings in the denomination’s five U.S. jurisdictions.

 

North Central Jurisdiction

·        David Alan Bard, a Minnesota district superintendent. Endorsed by the Minnesota Annual Conference and jurisdictional conference delegation.

 

·        Timothy Bias, pastor of First United Methodist Church, Peoria, Ill. Endorsed by the jurisdictional delegation of the Illinois Great Rivers Annual Conference.

 

·        Jerome “Jerry” DeVine, ministry consultant at the West Michigan Annual Conference. Endorsed by the Native American International Caucus’ Northeast Region, which includes the North Central and Northeastern jurisdictions. Also endorsed by the Indian Workers Conference in Michigan.

 

·        Sally Dyck, pastor of Garfield Memorial United Methodist Church in Pepper Pike, Ohio, East Ohio Conference. Endorsed by the North Central Jurisdiction Women’s Caucus.

 

·        Neriah Edwards, superintendent of Canton District, East Ohio Annual Conference. Endorsed by the Black Clergywomen of the United Methodist Church.

 

·        Mark Fenstermacher, senior pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church in Elkhart, Ind. Endorsed by the North Indiana jurisdictional conference delegation.

 

  • Mark Horst, pastor at Park Avenue United Methodist Church, Minneapolis. Affirmed by the Minnesota Annual Conference.

 

·        Hee-Soo Jung, Nicolet District superintendent, Wisconsin Annual Conference. Endorsed by the Wisconsin delegation to the North Central Jurisdictional Conference, as well as the National Association on Korean-American United Methodist Churches.
